Photos from the U-District Food Bank Open House

I  had the chance to briefly stop into the University District Food Bank Open House last night and meet some of the great volunteers that keep that place going.  The Open House was packed, and the food bank provided live music, wine and hors d’oeuvres, plus an inside look at how they operate.

The U-District Food Bank helps feed over 1,100 families each week, as well as providing them with necessary toiletries and more.  It’s set up like a grocery store inside with small isles and different sections – that way, people can pick and choose the specific items they need.   A lot of the food is donated, but much of it is also bought through donations to the food bank so that they can stay stocked with the right products.

Thanks, Food Bank, for feeding our neighbors!
