Seattle’s “Light the Night Walk” for cancer coming September 24th

It’s almost that time again when I’m going to get home from work around 5:30pm and find myself walking the dog in the dark around Green lake Park.  But on September 24th, it won’t be so dark!

This year’s “Light the Night” walk around Green Lake takes place September 24th at 7 p.m.  The walk is put on by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and involves walking around the lake at a leisurely pace with illuminated balloons.  You can either create a team and be team captain, join a team that’s already formed, or register as an individual for the walk – and you can register online here.

Registrants are encouraged to fundraise ($100 or more), but not required.  In addition, if you can’t walk on that evening, you can make an online donation to it here.  Or, you can volunteer at the event instead.

I had the pleasure of seeing this event last year and it’s absolutely beautiful to see the illuminated balloons make their way around the lake as the sun goes down.  Because this is a leisurely event, strollers, wheelchairs and dogs are completely allowed.
