Edible Plant Sale from Seattle Tilth – This Weekend!

This Saturday and Sunday, May 5th and 6th, is Seattle Tilth’s Edible Plant Sale at Meridian Park in Wallingford (4649 Sunnyside Ave N).

From 9am to 3pm each day, stop by to purchase over 50 varieties of organic tomatoes and over 20 types of peppers, plus herbs, edible flowers, and perennials.  Most veggies will be selling for $3, and flowers for $4 but prices will vary slightly.

For a complete list of veggies for sale, check out the list ahead of time here, and for herbs and flowers check this list here.  There will also be seeds available.  If you sign up for membership with Seattle Tilth, you’ll get a free plant from the sale.

Seattle Tilth anticipates busy hours between 9am and noon on Saturday, and 9am to 10am on Sunday.  Because of this, wristbands will be given out during those times and activities and vendors will be available in the lower field for those waiting for entrance.

Happy gardening!

Tuesday: Spoke & Food in north Seattle – an evening of dining and bikes

Leave the car at home this Tuesday, June 28th, and bike to dinner instead for Spoke & Food, to help support the Children’s Garden Education Program at Seattle Tilth.

When you dine at the participating restaurants on Tuesday, 20% of their total revenue will go to the non-profit organization which helps teach children sustainable garden practices and how to care for the earth.

Several north Seattle restaurants are participating:

Snoose Junction Pizzaria (Ballard)

Barking Dog Alehouse (East Ballard/Phinney Ridge)

Judy Fu’s Snappy Dragon (Maple Leaf)

Stumbling Goat Bistro (Phinney Ridge)

Casa D’Italia (Ravenna)

The Scarlet Tree (Roosevelt)

Chaco Canyon Organic Cafe (U-District)

Julia’s (Wallingford)

There will be a representative for the event at each host restaurant to provide more information about the event and about Seattle Tilth, and you can also donate additional funds through the representative if you choose.

In addition, Hub & Bespoke will be hosting a “pre-func” from 5pm to 7pm Tuesday at their Fremont location (513 N 36th St) where you’re invited to come enjoy their beer & wine selection and share poetry about your bike.  If you’re a little stage-shy, bring your poem and someone will be on hand to read it for you.
